What do you LOVE to tattoo? What will get me an appointment?

Currently I am most excited to take on-

a. floral pieces, specifically larger scale work

b. more illustrative work with an art nouveau flare/animals/plants/framed

c. ornamental work

The best way to get a feel for what I like tattooing is too look at my instagram.

I always give priority to those who are willing to give me a lot of creative freedom. Ideally a proposal with a longer list of elements you are open to having in a piece and a whole lot of freedom beyond that.

Ie. “ I love moths, butterflies, snakes, birds, skulls, peonies, wild roses, irises, magnolias, leafy plants, bold accent lines, ornamental flares, blackwork, and am excited about a piece that includes any of those elements.”

That being said, if you have specific elements or ideas in mind and they feel like a match for my work, its okay to have a clear vision!

What will you not tattoo?

As of right now -text, landscapes, portraits, color, super tiny tattoos, other peoples art, sacred geometry, an image you found online. You can always email me with ideas, but this is a pretty good ideas of what I am not looking to work on.

How do I book an appointment?

I have a booking form on my website, please fill that out. It might be a while before you hear back depending on where I am at in a booking cycle so be patient. I book appointments every few months and usually will not get back to emails until I am booking.

When can I see my design?

I send outlines without shading or full detail work the day prior to your appointment. Most artists don’t share designs before an appointment but I prefer to so that everyone knows what to expect day of. After I share a design there is room for a one time round of minor changes to your design if necessary. Anything major requires a redraw fee and potentially a reschedule. So, please be really clear and thoughtful with your submission form and give an accurate size measurements. Tattoo designs take a long time and there is a lot of though that goes into the over all composition of the design, so please be clear with our initial correspondence. Appreciate it!

Is there anywhere you won’t tattoo?

9/10 times ribs are a no for me. A sternum piece or hip piece that creeps onto the ribs a bit is generally fine. The ribs are an incredibly painful area and its really stressful and challenging to tattoo someone that is in severe pain/clenching their body/moving. If you truly know you have an abnormally high pain tolerance I am open to any part on the body.

Do you take a deposit?

After we choose a date for your appointment I take a non refundable $175 deposit that goes towards the total cost of your tattoo on the day of your appointment.

What if I need to reschedule?

Please give me at least a weeks notice if you need to reschedule. Note that rescheduling will likely push your appointment out a few months. Life happens and if there is an emergency or if you are sick, last minute reschedules are obviously okay.

What are your rates/how much will my tattoo cost?

My current rate is $175 an hour. I am always happy to give an estimated for your specific piece in our correspondence.

Do you do consultations?

All correspondence about your tattoo will be done via email. That way I have a paper trail to refer back to. Meet ups or phone calls to discuss a design don’t work for me, thanks for understanding!

Why didn’t you respond to my email?

Sheesh, I’m sorry. I’m just a one lady show and sometimes things slip though the cracks. Generally though, if you didn’t get a response email to your design proposal it’s likely because it’s not a design that I feel works with my style. I try my best to respond even if it’s a decline, but I don’t get to all of them. If I am in the middle of a booking cycle it might be a month + before you hear back so hang tight. If its been months then its safe to assume it wasn’t a good fit for me. You can always email again with another design thats more in line with my work!

How can I prepare for my appointment/what should I bring?

Get a good nights sleep, eat a nourishing breakfast, and keep the area we are tattooing moisturized the week leading up to your appointment. It really all counts!

Things to consider bringing- a book, headphones, a movie or tv show, snacks, a meal, a clean blanket or pillow. Anything you need to feel comfortable and cozy!

Please wear something that allows for easy access to wherever we are tattooing. Ideally something black or something you don’t mind getting ink on ( it happens).

Bonus points if you wear something that will look great for photos after your tattoo.

Conversation is totally fine while I am tattooing but I am not at all offended if you want to tune out and watch a show or be in silence.

Where is your studio?

I have a private studio outside of Bend, Oregon . I will send you the exact address and more appointment details the day prior to your appointment.

How do you accept payment?

Cash or Venmo!

Do you tip tattoo artists?

It is customary to tip tattoo artists. Generally 10-20% as with other occupations. Though anything your are financially comfortable with is truly appreciated and there is no judgement around this from me.

Can I bring someone with me?

Please don’t! There is already a lot of multitasking going on while tattooing so adding another human in the mix becomes an added energy for me to juggle. I wan’t your piece to turn out perfect so the more space for simplicity and focus the better!

How far out are you booked?

I generally book in 3-4 month cycles. So anyone who has emailed a proposal in the last few months gets considered for the coming booking cycle. I usually don’t book out farther than a few months as I like to keep flexibility with my own life and schedule. So, expect a 1-4 month wait.

Do you do coverups?

Usually no, but sometimes! Add a photo of what you would like covered up in your proposal and I will let you know what’s possible for your specific situation. With cover ups not every type of design is going to be possible.

Will you add to a preexisting tattoo or fix my tattoo done by another artist?

No, sorry! I know I have done a bit of this in the past, but I really love having a blank canvas to work with.

Do you do color work?

Nope, Nope, Nope. Color just isn’t in my wheelhouse. I love working with black ink and greyscale.

Will you tattoo over my scar?

Most likely yes! It needs to be a few years healed. Please send me a photo in your proposal. Sometimes ink doesn’t hold as well over scars so there would need to be realistic expectations around that. If they are minor it is usually not a problem what so ever.

Will you tattoo something I drew or my friend drew?

Nope! I only do custom designs. There are artists who will be happy to do that for you, I am just not one of them. Thanks for understanding.

How long will my appointment take?

I can give you a time frame estimate in our email correspondence, just let me know if you’d like one. How long a tattoo takes depends on so many factors so the estimate will always be an estimate.

Please don’t have pressing plans after your appointment or ask how much longer it is going to take during an appointment. Any sense that there is a rush is not going to be beneficial to anyone, can’t stress this enough.

Will my tattoo take multiple sessions?

Totally depends on wether you are wanting a chest piece or a medium sized floral forearm piece. Large pieces can take multiple days but most designs can be done in one sit.

I will let you know if I think there is a potential for your piece to take longer than one session in our correspondence emails.

I am not a machine and usually max out physically/energetically at 5-6 hours. So for tattoos that are in the 5+ hour range there will be some uncertainty as too wether or not we will finish in one sitting. Sometimes I get burnt out and sometimes clients do. For best results I would rather finish a piece another day then push either of us past our limits!

Can I use numbing cream?

I would prefer if you didn’t unless its truly necessary. Numbing cream changes the texture of the skin and makes it less than ideal for tattooing. If you are concerned, please let me know beforehand and we can chat more.

I do have lidocaine spray we can use during our session, we just have to wait until the outline is on as it makes the stencil rub off to easily. Most clients seem to love it once we get to shading and details.

what if I need to tap out mid tattoo?

Generally that is okay as long as we aren’t in the middle of an outline. I do encourage people to try and stick with it as much as they can but sometimes you just gotta tap out and thats fine. Don’t hesitate to communicate with me where you are at during the tattoo, no judgement.

why are tattoos so expensive?

Because you are getting a one of a kind piece of art on your body. The actual time it take to tattoo is only half of the equation, artists can spend just as much, if not more time working on your design. Plus we have overheads to cover just like any other business. Taxes, studio rent, supplies, etc.
